Fleetwood Town's fixture at Oxford was one of seven League 2 games to fall foul of the wet weather that has swept the country.

This is always a frustrating experience for all concerned, not least manager Graham Alexander: 'We did all our preparations as normal and then heard at the hotel about the pitch inspection.  Naturally, we are disappointed  but a lot of games have been affected.  However, we made the most of the setback thanks to Stoke City who allowed us use of their training facilities on the way back north.' 'There is a lot of frustration and adrenaline that needs to be burnt off at times like this and we wanted the lads to get it out.  We had just over an hour's activity with  a lot of sweat and a bit of football because a Saturday without football is a poor day for a pro and it filled the day a bit.  The lads trained really well.' 'A plus is that we don' t have any extra injury worries ahead of a busy schedule and it has given us an extra bit of time to prepare.  We have a big responsibility to do everything right over the Christmas period.' Chief Executive, Steve Curwood, described the decision to postpone as, regrettably, the right one: 'The  ball was not bouncing and barely rolling as the puddles grew.  We could argue about an earlier call off but we are where we are and have to come back on a Tuesday so I have to feel for our fans.  I believe that Oxford have had hardly any postponements before but it could have been a possible consequence of the rugby that is played on the pitch as well. The ground staff did what they could but in the end you cannot beat the elements.' The club will provide free coach travel to the rescheduled fixture to those booked on the official coach yesterday. As a reminder, the club shop is open on Christmas Eve from 8am to 3pm for presents, half-season tickets and Morecambe matchday tickets.
