Fleetwood’s head groundsman Dale Frith says the match against Aldershot is 100 per cent certain to be on, despite the recent frosty conditions.

The Football Conference Groundsman of the Year for 2011 laid the pitch with frost covers on Thursday and Friday night, and they have done the job. “The initial temperature was around -3° during the week so I am really pleased that we put the whole lot down,” said Frith. “There’s no problem with the pitch at all now. We let the sun on the pitch Friday daytime but covered it up again overnight. The temperatures in the early part of Saturday are actually meant to rise to around 6°.” Frith also explained that, because of how far the visitors travel, it was important to put the game on. “The Aldershot team, their fans and the officials have to travel a long way,” he added. “There’s a lot at stake in this game, and all of our supporters want it to happen so, we’ve done everything we can to get the game on.”
