Fleetwood Town's Under-18s got back to winning ways after an emphatic 5-1 victory over Walsall in the Youth Alliance League fixture.

Mark Yeates side came into this game on the back of four straight defeats, with Blackpool and Carlisle going above them in the race for the title.

The Young Cods started off well in the game and you could sense there was something in the air, and when the 8th minute struck in the match, the visitors took the lead.

Zane Marsh put Town one up with a well worked goal after some great build up play. The goals didn't stop there for Yeates' side who looked like they were enjoying their football.

In the space of ten minutes, Fleetwood scored three more goals to make it 4-0 at the break. Young forward Mikey Lane scored from the penalty spot on the 33rd minute, converting after being brought down himself inside the 18-yard box. 

Midfielder Kyle King scored a free-kick with three minutes to go until the interval, with Lane grabbing his second and Town's fourth of the game on the stroke of half-time with a well-taken finish.

With some rotation, the second half was more even and the Young Cods sealed the victory after Marsh bagged a brace in the fixture. Walsall did score a 81st minute consolation goal, but the points were already wrapped up by the red and white army.
