Fleetwood Town's Development Squad were beaten 2-0 at Poolfoot Farm on Wednesday afternoon in a Central League fixture against Accrington Stanley.
It was two first-half goals that settled the tie, with the visitors' number seven opening the scoring after nodding in an inviting cross at the back post, before an unfortunate own-goal on the half-hour mark doubled their lead and gave it all to do for the young Cods.
Even after a more positive second half from Matt Lawlor's side, they still found it tough to break down the Accrington defence - their best chance fell to Callum Dolan at the start of the game who cut inside and shot across goal, forcing a save out of the goalkeeper.
Town XI: McMullan (GK), Bird, Johnson, Holgate, Baker, Raffie, Morrison, Macadam, Brown, Dolan, McMillan.
Bench: Rees (GK), Teale, Thiam, Boyle, Russ.
