Report: Development Squad play out goalless draw against Preston

Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad played out a goalless draw against Preston North End in the Central League on Tuesday afternoon.

It was a young side that took on the Lilywhites at Euxton, with many of the squad being members of Simon Wiles’ Under-18s side.

The hosts seemed to settle into the game quicker than the Cods, with Lewis Coulton and Mikey O’Neill both forcing saves from Tom Donaghy, but Danny Edwards had a shot of his own which was saved by James Pradic.

Preston had a couple of good attempts soon after as Josh Murphy saw his effort deflected wide from close range, before playing through Noah Mawene in the next attack, who had to be stopped in the Town box.

Both sides were reduced to half-chances for the rest of the fixture, with both defences standing firm until the final whistle, which meant both sides would go home a point apiece.

PNE XI: Pradic, Nevin, Huntington (Mfuni 62’), Coulton, Seary, Leigh, Mawene (Walker 81’), Olosunde, Slater (Blanchard, 75), O’Neill, Murphy (Rodwell-Grant 62’).

Subs not used: Lombard.

Town XI: Donaghy, Baker, Bird, Johnson (Hoyle 45’), Thiam, Thompson, Edwards, White (Kearns 45’), Batch (Leggett 83’), Smith, McMillan.

Subs not used: Rees, Thompson-Prempeh.
