Fleetwood Town's Development Squad lost their final home match of the season, with Colchester United taking back the three points in a convincing 3-0 win.

The visitors Colchester scored the opener in the fifth minute of the game after Town tried to play out from the back. It was a well taken finish, one which the U's deserved for their fast start.

The lead was doubled ten minutes later. Finlay Armstrong was the man who brought down the Colchester attacker inside the penalty area, and from 12-yards, the spot-kick was converted.

Town reacted well in the second half, and with a quadruple substitution at the break, there was need for those out on the pitch to go out and turn the match around.

Colchester did stand firm throughout. Pharrell Brown looked lively on the left flank, cutting in on his favoured right foot, and with 70 minutes on the clock he thought he had narrowed the deficit, if it wasn't for the keeper boots.

The away side did score another goal late on following a nice move from a set-piece, but this will be one to forget for the team in red and white.

Town will now finish off the season with an away trip Bournemouth.

Town XI: Trialist (GK), (Bellizia , 46'), Wright-Ocana, Hoyle, Hughes, Armstrong (Edwards, 67'), Smith, Morrison (C), McClean (Trialist, 46'), Trialist (Trialist, 46'), Devonport, Trialist (Trialist, 46').
