Day 1:
Redevelopment Work Commences
28/04/08

Fleetwood Town are
delighted to announce redevelopment work commenced at
Highbury Stadium on Monday. Clearing work at the rear of
the Park End stand is underway and will be shortly followed
by the demolition of both that stand and the 'scratching
shed'. This is the first part of a £1 million project that
includes the replacement of two stands, Football League
standard floodlights and a new supporters bar. Work is due
to continue through the close season and the completion date
is set to coincide with the start of the new season.
Andy
Pilley: "It's been an
extraordinary few days for Fleetwood Town. Seeing the
stadium redevelopment start straight off the back of
Saturday's promotion as UniBond Premier League champions is
great news for all concerned with the Club. This is solid
evidence of building work and puts into place plans that
have taken months and months of preparation. The new
facilities will certainly boost the new season in the Blue
Square Conference North. Although the building work is
evident for anyone walking or driving down Highbury Avenue,
the fans will have an opportunity the see the work for
themselves when we play Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday in
our last game of the season".
Mark
Bell, Peter Marquis, Preston (site team lead): "We are
here to demolish the two stands and clear the earth banking
from around the back of the stadium. It's our first day and
if all goes to plan the job will last two weeks".
