Ashton United 3 Fleetwood Town 5:
August 27th 2007 19:30
Hands up all those who enjoy going
to Ashton United! After another tortuous first half at Hurst Cross, which ended
1-0 down, an early second half equaliser was cancelled out before we discovered
a purple patch, knocking in four goals. We even started to smile, until Ashton
scored a third and Ricky Mercer was red carded for a last man foul. Still; a
good win for all that with the goals coming from Phil Denney (2), Guy
Heffernan, Jamie Milligan and Alex Taylor.

So Far, So Good:

The Reserves
got the weekend off to a good start with a deserved 2-0 win in an incident
packed game at Lancaster last night. The goals came from Joel Cowell and Jamie

A Big Weekend!
August 24th
2007 07:30
It's the
first 'Big Weekend' of the season with wall to wall football for your
enjoyment.
Tonight,
Friday, a quick trip up to the Giant Axe will get you Lancaster City
Reserves v Fleetwood Town Reserves in the Lancit Haulage Lancashire League,
kicking off at 7:45pm. Steve Edwards' team will be looking to build upon the
good second half performance against Salford City Reserves and he names an
unchanged squad of Mike Hale, Danny Eden, Ryan Croft, Michael Tallentire,
Christian Dust, Rik Bryan, Kyle Webster, Mark Davis, Dax Hoogerwerf, Anthony
Warwick, Chris Watkinson, Joel Cowell, Adam Crossley, Ben Buschini and Jamie
Wright.
Saturday is,
of course, our first home UniBond League game of the season against a
well-fancied Hednesford Town FC. We are still blighted with suspensions,
but the injury front has improved a little.
Sunday is
Fleetwood Town Juniors FC's 'Jamie Sorrel Memorial Tournament'. The
action starts at 10:00 am, in and around Highbury Stadium, with games
throughout the day featuring all the Junior Teams, and culminating in the U18's
v FTFC Reserves and the 'Managers v Parents' fixtures - this last one, a really
'big' game, if the leaked team sheets are to be believed.
Still
hungry? Then it's off to Ashton United for a 3:00pm kick off on Monday
when, with Pond, Milligan and Mercer back from suspension, we will look to
improve on last season's performance.

Fleetwood Town FC 'Score' Lottery:
August 22nd
2007 17:30
We have decided to end our lottery
scheme following the September draw which will take place on Monday the 3rd
September.
We have taken this decision in light
of the high running costs and the time spent administering the scheme which
really means that our lottery is barely viable. The vast majority of
subscriptions to the lottery are paid by monthly standing order and we would
therefore request that all our supporters arrange to cancel their payments with
their Bank as soon as possible. If any payments are received after the scheme
has ended, we will, of course, refund any such payments back to you.
Whilst the “Score” Lottery is to end
imminently however, we expect to announce exciting new plans for a new Affinity
Scheme shortly which will give our supporters and the local community the
opportunity to help raise vital funds for the club which will be used to assist
in the cost of redeveloping Highbury Stadium.
Finally, could we take this
opportunity to thank everybody who has supported our lottery.
Phil Brown
Vice Chairman

Ossett Town 0 Fleetwood Town 1:
August 19th
2007 07:30
A fourth
minute debut goal from Ciaran Donnelly proved enough to take all three points
in this hard fought opening game. Outstanding at the back, the midfield created
more than enough chances for the forwards to have made the game safe but, even
so, it still needed a last-minute tip-over from Danny Hurst.
Team: Danny Hurst, Guy Heffernan, Jez Fitzgerald, Martin Moran, Shaun Gray,
Ciaran Donnelly, Michael Brown, Phil Robinson, Phil Denney, Andy Bell [Alex
Taylor], Richie Allen [Kieran Walmsley] Unused: Jonathan Smith

Donnelly and Walmsley Complete the Picture:
August 14th
2007 07:00
Talented midfielder, Ciaran Donnelly, has signed a two year
contract with Fleetwood Town after impressing manager Tony Greenwood in last
Saturday’s friendly against Radcliffe Borough. Donnelly began his career with
Blackburn Rovers where he was considered to be one of their brightest academy
prospects. After moving to Blackpool, Ciaran made over 50 league appearances. Fleetwood
fought off interest from several other clubs, including Worcester City and his
capture is seen as another major coup for our ambitious.side.

Another recruit which will raise
eyebrows within non-league circles is that of Morecambe utility player Keiran
Walmsley who, like Donnelly, has signed on the dotted line for two years.
Walmsley was a regular first team player with Morecambe and enjoyed a
successful loan spell with Town last season. Keiran is equally effective at
both full back and in midfield and with both Nathan Pond and Jamie Milligan
suspended for Town’s opener at Ossett Town this Saturday, he and Ciaran look to
be timely arrivals.
All connected with Fleetwood Town
offer Ciaran and Keiran a warm welcome to Highbury Stadium.

The U18
squad return to Highbury tomorrow, Monday, evening for a pre-season friendly

although they will be looking to improve upon the result. Colne will also be
playing in the 'Floodlit League', so this will be a good test of our
expectations. Kick Off is at 7:30 pm and admission is free.
FTFC Squad:

Adam Sumner, Matty Roach, Matty Meck, Mike Jarvis, Gareth Moore, Ryan Adderley,

a disappointing Highbury debut for the U18s as, after a storming first half,

pleased to report that Les Taylor is now recovering well from the minor
operation that he had towards the end of last week. Les thanked you for your
good wishes and said 'It doesn't feel like a bloomin' minor operation.' Les
still needs a couple of week's R&R, but should be fighting fit for

Highbury Stadium Welcomes Fleetwood Town
U-18s:
August 6th
2007 12:30
The
Fleetwood Town U-18 squad will make their first ever appearance at Highbury
Stadium this evening when they line up against **Ashton
Town U-18s. Coach Mike Sumner is using this pre-season friendly to assess some
excellent young prospects before finalising his squad for the coming Lancashire
FA U-18 Floodlit League season when all the home fixtures will be played at
Highbury. Kick off is at 7:00pm and admission is free.
Ashton Town play their football in the North West Youth Alliance. It is a high
standard league, and one which we, maybe, aspire to play in soon.
**Sorry guys, I had you on Ashton United's books
for most of the day!

2007
The recent
trial uploads of Jamie Blundell's match photographs seemed to go ok so, when
available, photographs are now being added to match reports on the First Team

Simple!
In order to view the images, and future site enhancements, you need to have Adobe
Flashplayer installed on your system. If you don't have it installed, clicking
the camera should offer you an installation link. If not, there is a link on
the Downloads page here.
Unfortunately, these 'bells and whistles' do tend to work better on newer
equipment and we are trying for maximum quality, so you may need to give the
images time to load. Any problems, drop me a line here, and maybe we can tweak the
settings a little.
Thankyou for

Heffernan and Smith Sign One Year Deals:
August 5th
2007 08:00
Guy
Heffernan and Jonathan Smith were scheduled to appear in the Lancaster game for
the first time as 'Fleetwood Town players' following their acceptance of one
year contracts during the last week.
Heffernan, a
native of the Barrow area, was a trainee with Blackpool before moving to Barrow
AFC, via Leigh RMI, signing his first contract for them in February 2004 At
Barrow, Guy made 97 first team appearances, scoring 7 goals in his career with
them.
Johnathan
Smith also joins us via Barrow, having having spent time before that with
Accrington Stanley, and the Club would like to offer both players a warm
welcome to Fleetwood.
Tony Greenwood's squad is not yet quite complete, however, so you may expect a
