July 31st 2007 07:30

We are
delighted to announce our proposals to complete the redevelopment of Highbury
Stadium within the next 2-3 years. The end result will, we feel, not only be
the creation of a football stadium amongst the very best in non-league football
but also the regeneration of the area surrounding Highbury.

New Season, New Website, New Stand......
July 27th 2007 07:30
So, here we go with the new website,
and what better way to open things than with a mouth-watering pitchside view of
the future!

After four years of use, the old
website, although still serving us well, was starting to look a little long in
the tooth. It was also getting increasingly difficult to administer due to the
build-up of old files and broken links on the server and, in truth, it no
longer mirrored the full range of activities and interests, both current and
future, of our ambitious club.
So here we are! As well as being the Club News site, the
intention is to give the site a 'magazine' feel where you can stop and browse a
while. The site is still developing as the new season's content and commercial
information become available and, with pages like the FTFC History Project to
come, there is still lots to do.
Please have a look around and see what you can find! It is a
'work in progress' and your comments and constructive suggestions [and broken
link reports!] are always welcome here.
Our aim is to 'please most of the people most of the time' and, with your help
and directions, who knows how far we will go?

For
Spennymoor, Read Oldham:
July 26th 2007 17:00
Spennymoor Town were unable to
assemble a squad for next Saturday's friendly and have had to withdraw from the
fixture at the eleventh hour. After lots of frantic phone calls, Steve Edwards
was able to get Oldham Town FC to step into the breach, and we are extremely
grateful for the North West Counties Division Two side for helping out at such
short notice. Let's give them a warm welcome!

Blackpool
FC - Pre Season Friendly:
July 14th 2007 19:00
This
season's opening friendly kicked off in glorious sunshine on an immaculate
looking pitch in front of a noisy crowd of 2318 fans.

Billy and Peter Ronson open
the new stand naming it after their father, Percy.

Following
the opening of The Percy Ronson Stand by his sons, Billy and Peter, honours
were about even in a goalless first half. The second half saw all of the big
squads getting a 'run in the sun' and, as Blackpool began to dominate the game,
they eventually turned their possession into goals, running out 3-0 winners.
Still,
a good work out for the first day 'back at the office' with Fleetwood debuts
for Alex Taylor, Steve Foster, Johnathan Smith, Liam Maloney and Slav Perz.

Manchester
United Update:
Ticket
sales continue to go well for Fleetwood’s prestigious pre-season friendly
against Manchester United’s Reserve team this coming Saturday at Highbury.
Please note that this game kicks off at 2.30 pm.
United’s
Reserve team manager, ex-United and Scotland legend Brian McClair, has promised
to bring his strongest available side and when speaking to Town Manager Tony
Greenwood earlier this week, he estimated the squad coming to Fleetwood will
have a value of 'over £20 million'.
Some
of the finest young talent in the country will be gracing the Highbury turf and
there is little doubt that many of the United players on view will be the big
Premiership names of tomorrow.
Tickets
remain on sale at the usual outlets at £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions). They
can be purchased in advance from either the Fleetwood Weekly News Monday to
Friday between 9 am and 5.15 pm or from Fleetwood Town FC’s Social Club on
weekday evenings this week between 7 pm and 9 pm.
There
will also be a cash turnstile open on the day of the match accepting cash entry
into the stadium. This turnstile will be adjacent to the Social Club at the
park side of Highbury.
Once
again, the club are urging all spectators to arrive at the ground as early as
possible to avoid last minute congestion at the turnstiles. Another crowd of
over 2000 is expected for the game, which the club expect to be played in
something of a carnival atmosphere with a high proportion of families and
children having already purchased tickets.

Blackpool
Too Strong:
The
opening friendly kicked off in glorious sunshine on an immaculate looking pitch
in front of a crowd of 2318 fans. Following the opening of the Percy Ronson
stand by his sons, Billy and Peter, honours were about even in a goalless first
half.
The
second half saw all of the big squads getting a 'run in the sun' and, as
Blackpool began to dominate the game, they eventually turned their possession
into goals, running out 3-0 winners.

Driving
to the Game?
You
will be aware that there is no on-site parking at Highbury Stadium, so a big
crowd will inevitably lead to some congestion. Thanks to Aldi Supermarkets,
however, the situation will be a little better as they have made a section of
their car park available to fans. Their location is here.

The
Curtain Raiser:
Arrangements
are now almost finalised for our prestigious pre-season friendly this coming
Saturday (July 14th) when we entertain Blackpool FC. Advance ticket sales indicate
we are expecting a bumper crowd for the game.
Tickets
remain on sale from either Fleetwood Town FC (7 pm to 9 pm Friday evening) or
from Blackpool FC’s ticket office (open Saturday 9 am to 1 pm).
There
will also be cash admission available at Highbury Stadium on Saturday (through
the Park turnstiles only) although this is expected to be limited. We would
therefore recommend all supporters purchase their tickets in advance of the
game.
To
avoid congestion at our turnstiles, we would request supporters of both clubs
arrive at Highbury as early as possible. We would also advise that car parking
in the immediate vicinity of the stadium is limited at the request of the
Police although street parking within 5 to 10 minutes walk will be readily
available.
We
are looking forward greatly to the game and hope that both sets of supporters
will help create a carnival atmosphere. The game also marks the official
opening of the Percy Ronson Stand at Highbury and a brief opening ceremony will
be performed by Percy’s sons, Billy and Peter, who have both flown in from
their homes overseas to be at the game. Billy Ronson is, of course, well known
to Blackpool fans having played for the Seasiders in two spells in the 1970’s
and 1980’s.

Blackpool/Percy
Ronson Stand:
Ticket
sales are going well for our high profile pre-season friendly against Blackpool
FC on Saturday 14th July. This game will mark the official opening of the Percy
Ronson Stand and Blackpool, following their promotion last season to the
Championship, will bring their full first team squad to Highbury for
their first fixture since their Wembley heroics in May.
The
official opening of the Percy Ronson Stand will be performed by Percy's son
Billy, who is flying in from his home in the USA for the game. Billy, born in
Fleetwood and a popular player at Blackpool, together with other
members of the Ronson family, will take part in the pre-match ceremonial
opening of the stand which is to become a permanent memorial to his father, who
played 416 first team games for Fleetwood in a career at Highbury spanning 16
years.
We
are also delighted to announce that the Percy Ronson Stand will be sponsored
for the next two seasons by local company BES Gas as part of yet another
lucrative partnership with Chairman Andy Pilley's company.
Players
re-signed/Pryers:
We
are delighted to announce that almost all of last season's playing squad have
now agreed terms for the coming season as we prepare for our assault on
the 2007/08 UniBond League Premier Division championship. Midfielder Phil
Charnock was released at the end of the last campaign and we have been unable
to agree new terms with full back Lee Pryers, who has declined to accept what
we considered to be a very good offer. Lee feels his future lies away from
Highbury and he leaves with our best wishes and thanks.

Jamie Milligan signs new 2-year deal:
Fleetwood
Town FC is delighted to announce that midfield ace, Jamie Milligan, has agreed
a new 2 year deal with the club.
The
former Blackpool and Everton star has rejected offers of full-time contracts
from two clubs higher up the pyramid to stay with Town; recognition of Jamie's
faith in the ambitious path that the club is taking both on and off the field.
Chairman,
Andy Pilley, expressed his delight at Milligan's decision commenting: ‘I'm
overjoyed that Jamie has rejected overtures from rival clubs to stay at Highbury.
Jamie made it clear to me that he is excited about what is taking shape at
Fleetwood and wants to play his part in taking us up the football pyramid. For
my part I am confident that we will continue to progress meaning that players
of the calibre of Jamie have no need to look elsewhere to achieve their
ambitions in the game.’
Jamie
is a huge crowd favourite and is equally well respected in the dressing room as
his ‘Players Player of the Year' award for 2006/07 confirmed. All connected
with Fleetwood Town wish Jamie well as he embarks on the next exciting phase of
his career with
