Blackpool Reserves v Wrexham Reserves Tonight:

Tonight's Pontin's League fixture is definitely on, so get down there for some stress free football! Kick off is 7:00pm                                          10:00 24/01/2007

So Who Is Next?

The Lancashire FA have a meeting on January 31st, when the details and dates of the next round of the United Co-operatives Challenge Trophy will be sorted. More details after then!                                              09:00 24/01/2007

Fleetwood Town 6 Kendal Town 2

                                                                                                    22:30 23/01/2007

This Is How It Should Be!

It's another beautiful day in Fleetwood and, with a bit of a nip in the air, it's a perfect day for some football. Add a tasty local derby and the Lancashire Cup and it's definitely 'Game On'. Kick off 7:45pm                       12:00 23/01.2007

So We're Back on the Cup Trail:

After another aborted weekend we're back into cup action tomorrow with the visit of Kendal Town in the United Co-operatives Challenge Trophy.

Despite more 'weather' on Saturday, we are optimistic that the tie will be played. Watch for an update tomorrow.                                       09:00 22/01/2007

Pitch Inspection Needed at Whitby:

Heavy weather over the last 48 hours has left the pitch 'under water' and in need of a good drying day today. There will be a preliminary pitch inspection this evening and, if needed, the final one at 09:00 on Saturday morning.

Watch the forum for the updates.                                                08:30 19/01/2007

Please collect your cheques from Les Taylor                               21:30 18/01/2007

FTFC Reserves v Bamber Bridge game off:

The pitch is under water this morning and so, with more 'weather' on the way, there is no possibility of having it playable for tomorrow evening. The Lancashire League Cup tie is, therefore, postponed.

Update:  Which is all academic anyway as Bamber Bridge do not have a full squad available.                                                                   09:00 18/01/2007

Andy Banks Joins Marine:

Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Andy Banks has departed Highbury Stadium to sign for fellow UniBond League Premier Division side, Marine. The full press release from Paul Cambridge is here.                                23:00 16/01/2007

Fleetwood Town 3 Barrow 2:

Barrow stage a second half revival, but they are unable to recover from first half goals by Pond, Bell and Allen. Report.                                 22:00 16/01/2007

Frickley Game:

The match report from Paul Cambridge is available here.

So, finally, it's game on:

The saga which began on December 5th will finally reach it's last act tomorrow, Tuesday, when Fleetwood host Barrow in the Second Round of the United Co-operatives Challenge Trophy; curtain up at 7:45pm.

Tony Greenwood has the full first team squad available for selection, with the exception of a cup tied Ryan Moore, so you can expect him to make some changes from the Saturday line up as he shapes the team for Barrow.
I only got one pre-match quote from Tony, 'Richard Allen will be involved'.
                                                                                                                                                     19:00 15/01/2007

Fleetwood Town 2 Frickley Athletic 2

Fleetwood play out an unexciting draw in the rain....not!

Danny Hurst is red carded on his debut. Nathan Pond steps into goal, but still sneaks up the field to claim the last minute equaliser. Milly netted earlier to equalise the penalty conceded by Hurst. Full match report here.                                                                                                                                                         18:00 13/01/2007

Barrow away is now at home:

Following representations by Fleetwood Town FC to the Lancashire FA, in relation to the unacceptable circumstances surrounding the postponed UCCT cup tie with Barrow last Tuesday, the LFA have now confirmed that the re-arranged game will be played at Fleetwood’s Highbury stadium on Tuesday the 16th of January.

Last Tuesday’s scheduled match descended into farce when both teams arrived for the game only to find that the match referee was delayed by traffic. When the official finally arrived at the ground several minutes after the appointed 7.45 kick off time, he postponed the game due to a waterlogged pitch.

Since then, FTFC have made their position clear and today the LFA confirmed in writing that this long delayed clash is to be switched back to Highbury Stadium next Tuesday.                                                 21:00 12/01/2007

Frickley Tomorrow:

Two days of TLC courtesy of Mr Mustow and the pitch is looking good. There is no planned pitch inspection.

Don't forget to bring a 'Kid for a Quid' and listen out for the dulcid tones of the 'Mystery Public Announcer'.                                                  20:00 12/01/2007

Another Date for the Diary:

Well, well! Tuesday January 16th at Highbury Stadium.........

Barrow!

More details when we have them K                                          19:00 12/01/2007

Fleetwood Town FC Press Release:

Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce the signing of
ex Preston North End utility player, Michael Brown.

Brown joined North End as a trainee before graduating to the 1st team squad. Michael also enjoyed a successful loan spell with Chester City, turning out for the Deva Stadium club on 19 occasions. Indeed, Michael did so well at Chester that on his return to Deepdale he was offered a new contract by Preston. Michael, who is 21 years of age, is a versatile player who can play in all 4 midfield roles and at right back. In recent weeks, Brown has been turning out for Shrewsbury Town’s reserve side. Aware that several other clubs were interested in clinching Brown’s signature, Fleetwood Town acted decisively and, having been impressed with their ambitious plans for the future, Michael readily agreed to sign a contract with Town until the end of the season.

Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley commented: 'I am absolutely delighted that Michael has agreed to join us.  Everyone I have spoken to speaks highly of him, including one of his new team-mates, Ricky Mercer, who was with Michael at Preston. We knew that other clubs were interested in Michael and we see this signing as another major coup.'

Brown’s ability to fill several roles undoubtedly makes him a key signing at such a crucial stage of the season and all connected with Fleetwood Town FC would like to offer Michael a warm welcome to Highbury Stadium.                                                                                                                                                             21:00 11/01/2007

UniBond League Challenge Cup Draw:

Fleetwood Town will meet Grantham Town, here at Highbury on February 10th, in the Quarter Final of the ULCC. The full draw is here.        18:30 10/1/2007

But Here's the Silver Lining:

The only good thing that I can find about the recent string of missed games is that the Half-Season Ticket offer hasn't changed. You can still get eleven First Team games, plus the Reserves, for £60. You can buy OnLine now.
                                                                                                                                                      09:30 10/01/2007

The Barrow Game is OFF!

So, another one bites the . . . mud.
Torrential rain a couple of hours before kick off, and a waterlogged referee, conspired to get this one called off at 7:45pm.

Same time next week, boys!                                                        08:30 10/01/2007

The Barrow Game is ON!

The pitch is heavy, but playable; so at the fourth attempt, it's game on.
                                                                                                                                                       12:20 09/0/2007

Uh! Oh!

Barrow will now have a pitch inspection at noon tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Next Stop Barrow:

So we're all off to Barrow tomorrow to battle for the right to play Kendal again, at Highbury, in the next round of the United Co-operatives Challenge Trophy. Danny Hurst will be in the squad, but not Ryan Moore, who is cup tied. Phil Robinson must also be doubtful following his injury at Kendal.
Barrow have reduced admission prices to £6; £3.50 for juniors and no-one is forecasting weather problems!                                                     18:30 08/01/2007

Re-arranged fixtures:

The UniBond League have now announced new dates for all our outstanding fixtures and so our fixture list, here, is now fully up to date.

Public Announcer Update:

Hopefully a quieter day today, with a good drying wind, and a chance to get back to routine business!

Thankyou to those who registered their interest in the job following the announcement here. With the postponement of the Witton game, we missed the opportunity of putting it in the match programme. We'd like to rectify that with the Frickley game, and contact you after that.         09:00 5/1/07
