A Big Thank You To Kevin Pennington

The directors and officials of Fleetwood Town FC would like to pay tribute to secretary, Kevin Pennington, who resigned for personal reasons last week.

Kevin's contribution to Fleetwood Town FC over the past 9 years has been outstanding and will never be forgotten. Throughout the club’s various ups and downs he was a reassuring and loyal presence and during that time deservedly established a reputation as one of the most competent, diligent and respected secretaries in North-West non-league football.

All connected with the club are immensely grateful for all Kevin's hard work and wish to place on record their sincere thanks for the work he has undertaken on the club’s behalf.

It follows too that we would like to wish Kevin and his family well in the future.

Thanks again. Kevin. Kindest Regards ,

The Directors and Officials of Fleetwood Town FC

John Hardiker leaves for Forest Green Rovers

John Hardiker has again linked up with his ex Morecambe boss, Jimmy Harvery, this time at Conference side Forest Green Rovers.

After a disappointing run of form, Hardiker recently lost his place in the Fleetwood first team and so the opportunity for the versatile defender to move on was timely for both parties.

Hardiker has joined Rovers on loan with a view to a permanent move.

Fleetwood will seek an immediate replacement as they look to strengthen their squad with a view to reviving their hopes of a third successive promotion.

Chairman Andy Pilley was keen to stress that Hardiker’s departure was for purely football reasons and that the club remains as ambitious as ever as they seek to recruit the highest calibre of non league talent possible. Pilley commented: "There is no doubt that John is a talented player but for whatever reason he has not managed to consistently find his best form at Fleetwood. We therefore felt that this move was in the best interests of all concerned and it now allows manager Tony Greenwood to go out a find a replacement as we bid to force our way back into the promotion pack".

All connected with Fleetwood Town FC would like to wish John Hardiker every success in the future.

Player Released

Fleetwood Town today released centre half Joe McMahon and immediately replaced him with Morecambe’s Shaun Gray who joins Town on loan for a second spell but this time with a view to a permanent move.

McMahon only joined Fleetwood in the summer for an undisclosed fee from Lancaster City. Despite his obvious ability, Joe endured a torrid time at Highbury and will now be looking to make a fresh start with Vauxhall Motors who moved promptly to sign McMahon as soon as he became available. All connected with Fleetwood Town would like to wish Joe all the very best of luck for the future.

Gray is no stranger to Town fans having enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Highbury last season when he played a key role in helping Fleetwood to clinch promotion. During his 11 games for Town last season, Gray became a big favourite with the Fleetwood fans who are sure to welcome the talented centre half back for what is hoped will become a permanent arrangement.

Salisbury go through

A spirited performance from Fleetwood was not enough to overcome a very strong Salisbury team with Town going out 3-0 in the first round proper of the FA cup. Report to follow.
