Re-arranged
reserve team fixture
Because the floodlights may not be up and running on
Friday the 8 September 2006 the Reserve Team home fixture against Burscough has
been called off.
The Reserves have however arranged to play Bamber Bridge at home on Saturday
the 9 September 2006 with an earlier kick off time of 2:00pm
Fleetwood Town sign Scott McNiven
Fleetwood Town are delighted to welcome Scott McNiven
to Highbury Stadium as the latest of several amazing signings.
Scott’s birthplace was Leeds, for whom his father, David, started his own
professional career as a talented centre forward, before going on to play for
Blackpool.
Scott, now aged 28, is a versatile defender, who can play in any position
across the back four.
McNiven began his career with Oldham Athletic for whom he made 267 appearances,
scoring 4 goals.
After 7 hugely successful seasons at Boundary Park, a spell in which he was for
a time a team-mate of another recent Town signing, Stuart Barlow, McNiven
joined Oxford United making 95 appearances in 2 campaigns.
For the 2004/05 season, McNiven found himself plying his trade for Mansfield
Town but after just 26 games for the Stags, McNiven was on the move again to
Chester City.
McNiven’s 47 appearances for the Deva Stadium club took his league and cup
career tally to 435.
After a brief spell with Morecambe, McNiven has opted to join the Fleetwood
Town revolution. Chairman Andy Pilley commented on his latest eyebrow raising
capture: 'we are delighted to sign a player of Scott’s stature and experience.
His versatility will be invaluable and the fact that he is based locally is
another major plus point'.
All connected with Fleetwood Town offer Scott a warm welcome to Highbury
Stadium.
Game against AFC Telford called off.
At 1:00pm and with everything looking good for the game
the weather decided to intervene. At 1:30pm the referee had no option but to
call off the game with the pitch 80% covered in water. A major let down for the
club but our hearts go out to the travelling Telford supporters and we look
forward to the re-arranged match whenever the UniBond decide it should be.
Supporters Coach to Frickley
Tickets for the supporters coach to Frickley on Saturday

will kick off at 2:00 pm.
