Pre-Season 2006/07
Yet another sensational signing
Following
the capture of Phil Charnock, Jerome Fitzgerald and Lee Dodgson, Fleetwood Town
are delighted to announce their latest pre-season signing, John Hardiker.
John, who celebrated his 24th birthday earlier
this month, was born in Preston.
Equally comfortable at full back or centre half,
Hardiker began his career with Morecambe after being released as a schoolboy by
Bury. John was Morecambe's first academy graduate and made his debut away at
Farnborough Town whilst still aged 16. Over the next 2 seasons, Hardiker
established himself in the Morecambe back 4 and after playing a prominent role
in their 2000/2001 FA Cup run, football league scouts began flocking to
Christie Park to watch the talented youngster in action.
Morecambe successfully thwarted all attempts to prise
Hardiker away until January 2002 when the then Stockport County manager,
Carlton Palmer, paid a record fee for a non league defender,
£150,000.
John made an immediate impact at Stockport County, scoring on his league
debut and then notching both goals in a dramatic 2-1 win against top of
the table Manchester City at Edgeley Park. Hardiker went on to appear in
108 league and cup games for County before joining Bury in 2005.
After just 3 months and 13 outings for the Gigg
Lane club, Hardiker re-joined Morecambe, making a further 17
appearances to add to the 86 he'd totalled during his 1st spell with the
Shrimpers.
John Hardiker has signed a 2 year deal with Fleetwood
Town and all connected with the club offer him a very warm welcome to Highbury
Stadium.
Joe
McMahon signs for Fleetwood
The
long-running transfer saga involving former Lancaster City captain, Joe
McMahon, was resolved today when Fleetwood Town paid an undisclosed fee to
clinch the signing of the highly rated centre half.
McMahon is now Fleetwood's player, with the necessary
paperwork already in the process of completion.
Joe is currently in America but returns to England within
the next few days and is likely to go straight into the squad for next
Tuesday nights friendly at Trafford.
McMahon, who shot to national prominence 2 years ago when
his goal sent then Conference side Scarborough out of the FA Cup, is yet
another superb signing and all connected with Fleetwood Town offer him a warm
welcome to Highbury.

Fleetwood Town have made another major signing in the shape
of midfielder Phil Charnock.
The talented 31 year old began his career with Liverpool
and, indeed, was a contemporary of fellow trainee and team-mate, Robbie
Fowler. Charnock made his debut for Liverpool against Apollon Limassol on
the 16th of September 1992, becoming the club's youngest player to ever
appear in a European match, aged 17 years and 7 months.
Charnock made just 1 further appearance for Liverpool
before moving on to Crewe Alexandra, Blackpool, Port Vale and Bury where
he attained extensive league experience.
More recently, Phil has played for Linfield and joins
Fleetwood Town with a view to helping the ambitious UniBond Premier Division
outfit continue their inexorable rise up the football pyramid.
All connected with Fleetwood Town extend a warm welcome to
Phil and wish him the very best of luck for the future.

Urgent
ALERT!
We have received reports
that an individual purporting to act on behalf of Fleetwood Town FC is falsely
selling programme adverts and other commercial products and pocketing the
money.
We are furious that at a
time when the club is making such progress and when so many people are working
so selflessly and diligently to take this club forward that there are petty
crooks out there wishing to de-fraud both us and, more importantly, the local
business community.
Please spread the word
that only Les Taylor is empowered to act on our behalf in terms of selling
programme adverts and other commercial products and that only cheques made
payable to Fleetwood Town FC should be issued. It follows too that no cash
should ever be paid over to someone purporting to act on Fleetwood Town's
behalf. In other words, if it isn't Les who sells the product and if someone
asks for a cheque to be made payable to them as individuals or asks for cash
then they are not acting on our behalf and should be reported to the club
immediately.![]()

We will be contacting local businesses to alert them of
this problem and the FWN&C will be carrying a story tomorrow.
The Police have been
informed and we will do everything possible to have the person in question
