Fleetwood Town have completed the signing of Swiss-American goalkeeper Brendan Moore.

Moore, a free agent, has been training with the Club since the turn of the year and was previously playing for North Carolina University.

The shot stopper turned down opportunities to play in the MLS to link up with the Cod Army and pursue a career in England.

Graham Alexander told the Club website: “Brendan’s a very good goalkeeper and he had a couple of offers from teams in the MLS, but he wanted to try his luck in England.

“We had him in on trial and he did very well in training, so we thought it was a good opportunity to bring him in and compete with the other goalkeepers we have here.

“He’s a young goalkeeper with a lot of potential and is very highly thought of in America, so we’re glad to have him on board and we’ll see how he progresses.

Moore added to his manager's comments by saying: " I graduated from University in December and wanted to take the next step. I'm an aspiring pro so once an opportunity came along to play at the mecca of football which is England, I decided to come over here and make the jump over the pond.

I played in recent games against Leeds United and Chester, and it's been good so far as the standard is really high.

I've been playing football over in the States since I was about five and it's a sport that's definitely growing over there which is awesome to see."

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe has signed a new deal until May. Mason saved a penalty on Tuesday in the development squad’s 2-0 win over the Nike Academy.
