The Cod Army face Doncaster Rovers this weekend

Although the Club’s Play-Off hopes looked to have dashed, Fleetwood Town defender Stephen Jordan believes the team must finish the campaign strongly.

Town visit the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from Tuesday night’s 3-0 reverse at the hands of MK Dons at Highbury.

Jordan admits the Play-Offs are beyond them now but the visit to Yorkshire represents an opportunity for the Cod Army to finish strongly.

He said: “We still want to finish as high as we can. Pick up a couple of points and you can be eighth, which looks great, or you can be 15th and it doesn’t look anywhere near as good.

“We need to make sure we win these games and finish well. It has been a good season but we want to make it look even better really.”

Adding: “We need to go there and win. That’s the ultimate thing for us.

Town held their own for large spells against the Dons in midweek before conceding three second half goals, but Jordan felt there were positives to take.

“I thought we played quite well in spells, but we’re just disappointed with the goals.

“They’re a very good team and play the ball well. I thought we rallied the storm well at first and then conceded goals which killed the game off really.

“They’re very good at keeping the ball and once they get in front it’s hard to get the ball off them.

“I think even at one nil we pushed but then the second goal just killed us a little bit.”
