Fleetwood Town

The 22-year-old striker has become Graham Alexander’s third summer signing and follows Danny Andrew and Keith Southern through the Highbury doors ahead of the Club’s first season in Sky Bet League One.

Proctor, whose young potential earned him a move to Barclays Premier League side, Swansea City, only two years ago, said that the move represents a fresh start for him, but admitted with all the familiar faces amongst the Town ranks, it alrePrcady feels like home on the Fylde Coast.

Speaking to the Club’s official website, Proctor said: “I’ve known about the interest for a few weeks now and as soon as I heard about it, I jumped at the chance. 

“It’s a Club that is on the up, everybody is ambitious and I think it will get the best out of me. I like the way the club is moving forward and I’m just glad to be part of it now.

“There are players that I know, there are staff that I know and there are people from the backroom staff that I know from certain places. 

“It feels like a fresh start, but with the bit of comfort of knowing some people from around the Club. It feels like home.”

Whilst the Cod Army’s Wembley victory is still fresh in the memories of Town fans, Proctor, who played 49 games last season and scored seven goals, also admits to cheering Fleetwood on to promotion, but after talking to Alexander, he insists it will not end there.

“Everyone knows the story of where Fleetwood have come from and I was rooting for the victory. At the final whistle, you could see what it meant to everyone and this Club doesn’t want to stand still. 

“It wants to keep moving forward and that’s one of the big things. They’re not happy even though they have had six promotions and if we can get another next year, that will be fantastic.

“I know what he (Alexander) was like as a player and it came across now when I had a chat with now as a manager. 

“He wants to win everything, there is no standing still and he will get the best out of everyone. 

“He was like that on the pitch the year I played with him. He is full of encouragement, full of praise for everyone, but he won’t take it easy on you. 

“He tries to improve everyone and the chats that I have had with him already, I can see that he personally doesn’t want to stand still and he wants more and more success for this Club.

“It’s also time for me to step up and have a season where everybody takes notice. Everybody realises what I can do and I want to start achieving something. 

“I came through at Preston and had a season there before having 18 months at Crawley where I played quite a few games and scored quite a few goals, but I think I now need to settle down and really kick on and have a season where everyone notices.”
