Experienced frontman joins from Huddersfield on loan

Fleetwood Town Football Club can confirm the loan signing of Huddersfield Town striker Martin Paterson until the 3rd January 2015.

Paterson will team up with the Fleetwood squad on Friday morning and will travel down to Yeovil in preparation for this weekend's match at Huish Park.

The Northern Ireland international began his career with Stoke City before moving to Scunthorpe United where he enjoyed a fruitful spell.

He later moved to Burnley for £1million in the summer of 2008, and was a teammate of current Town boss Graham Alexander.

After a four year stint at Turf Moor, the 27-year-old joined the Terriers in 2013, and scored his first goal for the club against Sheffield Wednesday in November of last year.

Boss Alexander was delighted to welcome Paterson to the Club, and admitted he can't wait to see the striker he saw flourish at Turf Moor in action as a Fleetwood Town plaer.

He said: “His hunger and will to win is fantastic, and the first thing that struck me when we played together at Burnley was the way he trained and how he was always desperate to score goals.

“I still see that in him, and he’s obviously a lot more experienced now. We’re really pleased to have him on board and we know he’ll improve the squad.

“He’s got a fire in his belly and he just wants to score goals to win games. As a Club and as a squad, I think he’ll fit in perfectly.

“We’ve lost three or four strikers this season already due to injuries, suspensions and loan recalls, so we made an enquiry and luckily for us we were successful with it.”
