Students studying for a BTEC at Fleetwood Town FC...
So with the summer transfer window ready to close for 2015, Fleetwood Town welcomed eight new recruits! They come in the form of our new football education students who have linked up with the Club for two years to study a BTEC level three.
Equivalent to three A levels, it offers the perfect chance for students to study and play football, including futsal, the only form of indoor football approved by FIFA, UEFA, and the FA.
After completing their two-years, they will have gained a qualification to go and work in the world of fitness and sport.
The eight students have all joined from local high schools after completion of their GSCES.
One of the eight, 16-year-old Josh, an avid Fleetwood Town supporter, told the Club website he can’t wait to start studying with the team he adores!
“I want to do something related to sport and I am hoping I can find out what career path I want to take during my BTEC at Fleetwood Town.
“I support the Club and watch Fleetwood Town home and away, so this was the perfect course for me! It is a great environment to do my studies.
“I found out about the opportunity when the Community Trust visited Fleetwood High. I am really excited about the next two years.”
Recruitment for this year’s course is not over yet, with the Club still having opens for the new academic year.
Futsal Director Dave Walton added: “We have started our induction week with the new students before their studies start next week.
“We have eight first year students and eight in the second year. We will continue to play futsal but now we have opened it up to 11-a-side matches.
“The year groups will study separately but they will train and play football together as a team.
“All of our students are really enthusiastic about being involved with the Club. We are recruiting still for this academic year and next year too.”
