Morris pleased to be back at Fleetwood Town

Josh Morris has admitted that his thought was to return to Fleetwood Town this summer after re-joining the Club for a second loan spell this week.

The 22-year-old midfielder played an integral part in Fleetwood’s promotion last season – playing 14 games and scoring two important goals – and Graham Alexander and his team have moved quickly to ensure the Blackburn Rovers youngster has returned to Highbury Stadium ahead of the new season.

Morris joined ahead of Fleetwood’s first pre-season game at Colwyn Bay and he lined up in the second half as Town ran out 5-0 winners in North Wales.

Speaking to the Club’s official website, Morris said: “It’s great news for me. I really enjoyed my time here last season and it has been good to get back.”

“The success last season was a real big pull. I really enjoyed playing my football here and I hope I can carry it on this season.

“We spoke at the end of last season and if we could get the deal done, then it would be done. There was a bit of interest elsewhere, but my first thought was always Fleetwood.”

Before rejoining the Cod Army, Morris did sign a new deal with his parent club, but insisted it is important for his development that he continues to play regular first team football.

And after impressing in the fourth tier last season, the Preston-born player says he is looking forward to playing in League One again after linking back up with Fleetwood.

“The new deal (at Blackburn Rovers) got sorted out quite before the end of the season,” Morris added. “It was good to get it sorted, but I just want to play football.

“I have played here (in Sky Bet League One) before. I’m looking for it and last night helped get the cobwebs off and it was great to see everyone again.”
