Gaffer thanks Wolves for loaning McAlinden

Graham Alexander says the signing of striker Liam McAlinden from Wolverhampton Wanderers will be a boost to his squad.

The youngster joined the Cod Army on-loan until January 3rd and will add another dimension to Town’s attack.

He spent time out on-loan at Shrewsbury Town last season before returning to Molineux and going on to and score his first league goal for the club three months later.

The manager had this to say about the signing: “He’s a player we’ve seen play over the last 12 months really. Our scouts and myself watched him during pre-season and he’s a young player we’ve kept an eye on.”

“He went out on-loan to Shrewsbury Town in League One last season and scored a few goals in that little period and he’s obviously been involved with Wolves’ first team ever since.

“There was contact during the early parts of the week that he’d be available for loan and there were a few clubs in for him.

“We were very keen to try and do something though and we’re really pleased that he’s wanted to come to us and try to establish himself.”

“He’s very much a striker who likes to run in behind and play on the shoulder of defenders. His energy is great and he works very hard for the team.

“We only have three recognised strikers at the Club right now, so Liam will be an extra weapon to our armoury. He wants to come in and score goals and I hope that’s the case.”
