Jamie Proctor mentioned his delight to be back in and amongst the goals for Fleetwood in their 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

Proctor took just three minutes to find the back of the net from a Nick Haughton cross as he headed in his fifth goal of the season.

Manager Graham Alexander recalled the 22-year-old to the starting line-up following the defeat to Chesterfield on Saturday, and the former Crawley man repaid his faith immediately.

The striker looked in the mood all evening and duly took the sponsors’ Man of the Match accolade.

Speaking after the final whistle he expressed his relief to find the back of the net once more.

“It has been a long time coming, getting back on the scoresheet. It hasn’t been going for me lately.

“It was good to be back in the team first of all and then to get the goal was perfect.

“In the end though it was frustrating that we took the lead twice, played some good stuff and had the chance in the second half maybe to finish it off.

“They’re a good side and have come back with two good goals but we definitely feel like it is two points dropped for us.”

Proctor also found the back of the net in the reverse fixture against Scunthorpe at Glanford Park in August.

He added: “I scored there earlier on in the season but I’ll take any goal against whoever we play.

“Hopefully this is the start of something for me again and I can go on a run and put in some good performances and the team can pick some points up.”
