Bez in ticket office meet-up

One festival goer got more than they bargained for when visiting Highbury Stadium to buy Live Wyre – Frack Free Sunday tickets.

Fleetwood resident Lynda Walsh was surprised to meet Happy Monday’s star Mark ‘Bez’ Berry  in the club ticket office.

The Monday’s percussionist was in town to promote the all-day music festival which takes place at the League 2 ground on 1st June.

The Happy Monday’s are joined by chart-topper Toyah Wilcox, Scottish outfit Big Country, the Troggs, Alabama 3 and lively Ska band Bad Manners fronted by Buster Bloodvessel.

Lynda said: “It’s was a really lovely surprise to meet Bez.  The Happy Mondays are one of the bands I really want to see. They were the big attraction for me but, when I saw the rest of the line-up, I thought I must come along.

“This is also a good way to put raise awareness about fracking. “Meeting Bez was the highlight of my day!”

Bez, a leading activist in the anti-fracking movement, said: “It was great meeting Lynda. The festival is going to be a great day for Fleetwood. Let’s hope we have a beautiful Fleetwood sunny day in June. We have some great artist’s line-up – the Happy Mondays, Alabama 3’s, Bad Manners and Toyah Wilcox. It’s all good.

“I’m sure it will be a good day for Fleetwood and let’s hope you do well in the playoffs. That would be a great double celebration with the festival coming and it’s anti-fracking message.”

Tickets are now on sale from the club ticket office or visit SEE Tickets . Standing tickets are £29 and seated £35.

The event starts at 11am ends at 10pm.
