Town picked up a hard earned point at the Ricoh

Graham Alexander admitted that a point was probably a fair result for both sides at the Ricoh Arena this afternoon.

An Andrew Webster own goal after 19 minutes had given Town the lead, and they could have gone into the break further ahead after a dominant first half display.

However, the Sky Blues improved after the break, and pressured the visiting defence for large parts before netting their equaliser through Simeon Jackson with ten minutes remaining.

After the game, the manager said: “I think over the course of the 90 minutes a point is probably fair. The way we played in the first half we could have been a couple of goals up at half time.

“We would have been in a better position had we scored those goals, but the way we played was superb, and we needed that cushion.

“When you’re away from home you expect pressure in the second half and that was the case.

“Unfortunately we just lost a bit of concentration for the goal and it’s cost us three points.

“We defended exceptionally well as we had to be alert to numerous balls into our box.

“They got their head on one and it’s been tapped in which was unfortunate for the players.

“If we can extend these performances from 45 minutes into 90 minutes then we know we’ll start winning more games.”
