Fuse Football complex continues to gather pace
Centre facilities manager for Fuse Football, Mick Horsfall, was delighted with the turnout at the under seven’s tournament which took place at the Club’s new training complex last weekend.A number of teams from in and around the Fylde Coast area all took to Fuse Football to battle it out on the superb facilities on offer in Thornton.
The Fuse brand continues to gather pace in the local area with more and more activities taking place on a weekly basis.
Horsfall said: “We had 16 under seven teams from the Blackpool and Fylde area come down to see us. Many of them had never been before so we were setting a stall out to impress. I think a 100% of them went away more than happy so it was a great event for us.
“Ultimately, when you host a tournament there can only be a few winners during the day, but when people walk away talking about the activity and the potential of the place then for me that’s as rewarding as seeing anyone lift a trophy.
“I’ve said previously about partnerships and you can only get people through the door by speaking to the right people and have decent relationships with them, and luckily we’ve got that in place with Poulton Primary League, Wyre Sports and a lot of the local clubs.”
Graham Alexander’s first team squad move into their new training base on the 1st July, and Horsfall believes having a professional football team play alongside these young children can only help to inspire individuals.
“I’ve said to everyone that has been on site that we’re bridging that gap between professional football and the normal person. The Club have always tried to do that by engaging with the community and getting players into schools.
“I think this will be a very positive step for Fleetwood and the community in terms of kids seeing these professional footballers on a day to day basis, and in the long run it will provide more fans for the football club itself.
“It’s inspiring being able to train at the same facility as a professional football team. If I was a kid and I had a chance to go and play at the same place as a professional footballer it’d be great, so surely there can’t be any better place to train than that.”
