A positive move for the local community on the Fylde Coast

It is coming up to three months since Fuse Football opened its doors for the very first time at the Club’s new multi million pound training complex in Thornton.

And it has all been positive so far for the home of football on the Fylde Coast, with all walks of the local community engaging with Fuse.

Centre Manager Mick Horsfall said: “It has been wonderful. We have engaged with so many different youth and adult teams.

“We have women teams on board, we have walking football. We have covered every demographic since we opened and the thing is, we have only just got started!”

With a full size 4G FIFA 2 star standard pitch in operation, thousands of people have sampled the surface as the brand Fuse continues to go from strength to strength.

The centre is not yet fully operational with many more pitches to be opened in the coming months, but the future certainly looks bright.

Mick continued: “We want to give everybody a positive experience and we can’t wait for the centre to be all singing and dancing.

“We are looking to increase partnerships and work with lots of different people. Wyre Sports Partnership have played a massive part in improvement for sports provision for primary schools.

“We have had rugby tournaments and mini football tournaments. We had a girls tournament last Monday which was extremely successful so they have all benefited massively.

“Fleetwood Town Juniors have now made it their home too.”

Fuse Football have been working extremely closely with the Club’s Community Trust with the goal to improve grassroots football.

“Fleetwood Town have taken a full time commitment on,” said Horsfall. “We want more local teams to use the facility because essentially it is a community venue.”

Fleetwood Town will continue to provide regular updates on Fuse Football and the Club new training ground throughout the summer.
