Club bid to attract new fans from Over Wyre

Fleetwood Town have teamed up with Blackpool Transport to launch a free bus service to attract new fans from Over Wyre to Highbury.

The Club are trialling a free bus service with a free match ticket for over Wyre residents who wish to attend this weekend's game against Walsall on Saturday.

A double decker bus has been sponsored by Blackpool Transport for the trial and will pick up fans wishing to attend the game from Knott End, Preesall, Stalmine and Hambleton on its way to Highbury Stadium.

The Knott End WMC in Knott End, The Black Bull - Preesall, The Seven Stars - Stalmine and The Shovels Inn - Hambleton are all backing the scheme. People from these villages can register their interest with the landlords of the pubs and they can also benefit from a free ticket to the game. The bus will then return post match dropping off any new found fans back at their local!

The Club’s Community Trust and commercial departments are working together on the scheme to continue ways of increasing new supporters. These areas have a population of over 12,000 – so there is potential to grow our fan base from these rural locations.

Matt Hilton, head of community said: “As a Club we are firmly committed to building our fans for the future and our partnership with Blackpool Transport will enable us to reach out to more people over Wyre."

Martin Booker, head  of commercial added: “We thank Blackpool Transport for their support and we hope the trial is successful. We met with landlords at pubs over Wyre and they are keen to support the idea to generate new fans from their local community for the club which is great.”

Bob Mason from Blackpool Transport is delighted to support the scheme concluded: “We are really pleased to be part of this trial for Fleetwood Town supporters from Over Wyre and we hope they find the service a great way to get to and from the game against Walsall.”

Call into your local pub to register your interest in the scheme – places will be offered on a first come first served basis. U12’s must be accompanied by an adult.

If your business want’s to partner with Fleetwood Town for the 14/15 season and beyond please contact Martin Booker, head of commercial, in the first instance on 01253 775080 for details on opportunities available.
