Book dedicated to the success of Fleetwood Town Football Club

Pond, Milligan, McNulty, Vardy, Warlow, Bell....and many more brilliant players grace a story which covers the country...Blyth, Barrow, Leiston, Plymouth and, of course, Wembley.

Players, fans, management and staff have come together to give their take on a story that has captured football's imagination and you can pre-order a copy at the special offer price of £9.99 from the Club shop, at the ground or online.

Author David Mitchell has followed much of the progress as a member of the Club's press team and has gained access to the archives as well as interviewing all the key personnel on and off the field.

There is also a tribute to Nathan Pond who has been there every step of the way and become a legend in the eyes of the Cod Army.

Living the Dream begins on that amazing day at Wembley Stadium.  The book recalls the many memorable games and events along the way and ends with a consideration of where the Club might go in the future.

Micky Mellon left the Club just months into the new season but the dream was to continue under Graham Alexander. Two years later came the sixth promotion, to League One via the Play-Offs.

A dramatic Play-Off success sealed promotion to the Conference and it was just two years later when Town became members of the Football League, a talented and close-knit squad led home by the destructive talents of Jamie Vardy.

Conference North football began with a disappointing set of results which led to the departure of Tony Greenwood, followed into the manager's chair by Micky Mellon. Another head-to-head, this time with Southport, was shrouded in controversy and bitterness as the league reacted to the folding of Farsley Celtic in 2010.

Town chased Witton Albion relentlessly to win the Northern Premier League Premier Division in 2008, overhauling a substantial lead.

Fleetwood re-joined the Northern Premier League for the first time in ten years. A second successive promotion came immediately and the book deals in detail with a dramatic final day when Town pipped Kendal Town to promotion in sensational style by turning round a seemingly insurmountable goal difference after a thrilling victory over Brigg Town.

Enter local businessman Andy Pilley. Pilley immediately made clear his ambition and the Club gained its first promotion under him in 2004/05 after a season-long tussle with Newcastle Town.

It was North West Counties football at the time with a small but loyal group of supporters. A high-profile friendly against Liverpool kick-started the following season but problems were to mount a few months later with the Club's promotion aspirations knocked back and the departure of chairman Mick Hoyle.

The 2002/03 season was notable for the appointment of a new manager, Tony Greenwood, and the arrival of an inexperienced 18 year-old, Nathan Pond.

Fleetwood Town's six promotions in ten years' captures a remarkable story. The book describes how Fleetwood Town rose up the football pyramid following the sterling efforts of Jim Betmead MBE and others to bring football back to life in the town in the late 1990s.
