The Fylde Coast derby against Blackpool ended goalless

Despite only picking up a point at Swindon at the start of April, Town will have left the County Ground wondering how they didn’t pick up maximum points.

Wes Burns gave the Cod Army the lead early on, but they missed a host of chances in the first half to put the game beyond doubt.

Nicky Ajose pulled his side level in the second period, but Town hit the woodwork three times before the end of the game and left Wiltshire frustrated.

Fleetwood moved closer to league safety with a win over Peterborough United on home soil in their next game.

Burns netted his fifth goal in eight games as he fired home after a neat one-two with Grant, and Eggert Jonsson added a second on 68 minutes.

The unlikely source of Conor McLaughlin scored a header deep into stoppage time to earn the Cod Army a point on their travels to Southend.

Grant opened the scoring with a stunning 30 yard strike which flew past Dan Bentley, before the Shrimpers turned the game on its head through goals from Adam Barrett and Jack Payne.

McLaughlin however had the last laugh as he burst towards the back post to meet Amari’i Bell’s perfect cross.

Next up at Highbury were Oldham Athletic, and it was to be a cagey affair which ended with both teams picking up a point.

On loan midfielder Stefan Scougall scored the game’s opener in the second half as he scooped the ball over keeper Joel Coleman.

Liam Kelly, who has a goal disallowed shortly after Scougall’s goal, did eventually get on the scoresheet as he bundled home from close range.

A trip to the capital to take on Millwall was next on the agenda, and Town slipped to a narrow defeat against the Play-Off chasing Lions.

Bobby Grant hit the bar in the first half, but experienced frontman produced a finish of the highest quality to chip the ball over Chris Maxwell from the edge of the box.

The final game of the month saw Town host Blackpool in the first Football League meeting between the two sides at the home of the Cod Army.

Jimmy Ryan smashed a strike against the crossbar in what was probably the game’s best chance, as the Fylde Coast derby ended goalless.
