Paddy Madden's goal proved the difference

Caretaker manager Chris Lucketti felt today’s result brought to an end what has been a difficult week for the Club.

Town were beaten narrowly at Scunthorpe United’s Glanford Park as Paddy Madden’s 68th minute goal was the difference.

The Cod Army must now prepare themselves for a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.

After the game, Lucketti said: “This game has brought to an end a difficult week and we were all disappointed not to get a result this afternoon.

“The lads gave everything they could to be honest and we had some very good performances. They had one shot on target and scored.

“To go away from home and limit them to one shot on target is great by anybody’s standards. The first thing we had to sort out was our defence and we’re more than happy with it.

“We brought these lads in primarily because of our injuries as up until yesterday we didn’t know who was going to be fit.

“We had to cover ourselves so brought two lads in, and then Woody passed a fitness test and he played, so we are looking stronger.

“Lack of results means confidence does drain and you can see that in certain individuals. I can’t fault the lads’ work ethic.

“Graham was very well liked by all in the squad and at the Club, but we prepared the lads right today.

“The feeling I got before the game was really positive and nobody looked like they were sulking. They got on with the job and did their best.”
