Former Kidderminster man believes he has point to prove

Jamille Matt admits he has unfinished business at Fleetwood Town after missing the entire 2014/15 campaign through injury.

The striker suffered his setback in a pre-season friendly against Partick Thistle at Highbury last season, which ultimately ruled him out of Town’s first season in the third tier.

But the former Kidderminster Harriers man is now keen to show the Town faithful what he can offer, and is hoping to hit the ground running.

He said: “It’s good to focus and be back in and amongst the lads rather than coming in early and being in the physio room for hours on end.

“One of my dreams is to play as high as possible. I was looking forward to playing in League One last season so to get that taken away from me was tough.

“It’s been 12 months of hard work but I feel in that time I’ve grown, so hopefully I’ll be able to show that on the pitch this season.

“The past 12 months hasn’t all been about fitness, as conditioning and other kinds of things come into play.

“The medical staff have looked after me well so I want to repay them for the support they've shown me over the past year or so.

“All of the lads know what pre-season is about and the hard fitness work that comes with it. We all need to see what levels we’re at and push on from there.

“I feel like I’ve got unfinished business here and need to prove myself. Like I say, I want to repay people; the chairman, manager, chief executive and everyone else.”
