The Cod Army travel to Coventry City this weekend
Steven Pressley has admitted that he is relishing his first trip back to the Ricoh Arena to face his former side Coventry City this weekend.The Scotsman managed the Sky Blues for nearly two years during a difficult period before his departure from the club in February 2015.
He wants his Town side to improve their away form when they face Tony Mowbray’s outfit, having slipped to a narrow defeat away to Rochdale on Tuesday night.
City hammered Bury 6-0 last time out and currently occupy 6th position in the Sky Bet League One standings heading into Saturday’s game.
Pressley said: “Looking at Coventry’s team they’ve probably got the best squad in the league. They’ve got some really gifted attacking players.
“They’ve also added experience and good quality in terms of defenders, so it’s going to be a really, really tough game for us.
“It’s a game I’m looking forward to though. The pitch will be excellent unlike when I was there, so if we play with energy and purpose then we’ll get a result.
“I’ve got some really good memories of my time at Coventry City, but have also got some really disappointing ones too.
“It was a club that I spent two years at, and they were a club which for two years I gave my life too. I was really passionate about the club and have a lot of feelings for it.
“In my final season we were working with 36 players plus several goalkeepers, and that included the Under 18’s, development squad and the first team.
“I think this season they’ve got about 36 first team players so they’re really having a go this year and I’m really pleased that they are.
“They deserve to be a club who play in the Championship, but on Saturday I’ll be going there wanting us to get three points.”
