Town supporter ran a fantastic time of 3 hours 58 minutes

Fleetwood Town supporter Stephen Cheetham completed the London Marathon in 3 hours 58 minutes on Sunday afternoon.

Cheetham was running the race for Alan Morley, a fellow Cod Army fan who has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

He initially set a target of raising £1,000, however has exceeded that amount and has managed to raise a staggering £2,000 for Alan and his family.

After completing the race, he spoke to Town’s website: “I was delighted to complete the marathon for Alan. It was a fantastic event and is one of the best sporting events in the world.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable and the crowd was fantastic. There were tens and tens of thousands of people out supporting us all.

“I’ve had amazing support since the Club promoted my run, as I’d initially set a target of £1,000 but it looks like we’re going to hit £2,000 now which is great.

“We’ve raised double of what we expected at the beginning, and running for Alan kept me motivated to complete the run. I kept thinking about him and his family.

“I was going at a reasonable pace for the first part of the race but the latter part was really hard. The crowd and the support just spurred you on though.”
