Striker speaks to Club website after late equaliser

Stephen Dobbie was delighted to see Town claim a well-earned point against Bristol City and is over the moon to send the home support away happy.

The Scottish centre forward hit his second goal in Fleetwood Town colours and the game’s all the important sixth but he firmly believed the Cod Army deserved to take away a share of the spoils.

“It showed the character of the squad. The subs coming on, it’s a whole squad game so I’m sure the fans went home happy, we are with getting a point at the end.” He told fleetwoodtownfc.com

“Oldham and Crawley, we felt we should be picking up points the way we played and even Wednesday night I felt we should have picked up all three points. To get a point in that one it actually feels like a win.”

The draw with Bristol City wraps up a demanding week for Town and with Dobbie now relishing a rest before next weekend’s trip to London Road to face Peterborough United:

“We’ll push on to next week’s game, a tough game with Peterborough and we’ll see how it goes. There is no easy game in any league, so it is one of those now where we need to rest and get ready for a tough trip.

“If we can play the way we have today, apart from a 20 minute spell in the second half, then we will do well next weekend.”

“We’ve got goals in the team. I don’t think we should be worried about that, I know we didn’t score in the last three games but if we will keep on going and see where it takes us.”

The 31-year-old was also quick to praise manager Graham Alexander for the substitutions he made but was quick to take the attention away from himself despite scoring the equaliser.

“It’s a whole team effort, the boys coming on Hughesy, Sarcevic and Proctor with the goal all made an impact. It’s a squad game. There will be ups and downs all year but I am pleased I scored this afternoon.”
