Huddersfield loan striker eyeing appearance

Loan striker Daniel Carr says he hoping for more first team action after getting his first taste against Rotherham United on Tuesday evening.

The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town, came on with 14 minutes remaining of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy semi-final clash for his first appearance in Fleetwood colours.

Carr admits he has had to be patient for his chance in the Fleetwood first team, but says he is hoping he has impressed Graham Alexander enough to warrant more action.

Carr said: “It felt good to finally get on. I have been waiting patiently and the gaffer has finally given my chance and I feel like I have taken it.

“I always knew that I would get a chance. You come and learn to play football, whether you start or not, you will get your chance.

“I just wanted to keep my body right; keep going and when I get called upon I will be ready.

“If the gaffer likes how I have played then who knows. Football is a very different game; hopefully I impressed enough and showed what I can do to get more of a chance.”

Fleetwood travel to Rochdale to resume their Sky Bet League 2 campaign this weekend after two successive cup games.

Rochdale, like Fleetwood, currently occupy a place in the play-off positions and although Carr is expecting a tough game, he insists Fleetwood have got enough to come away from Spotland with a positive result.

Carr added: “It will be a tough game at Rochdale. I have heard they pass the ball well, but I think we have got enough to take them on.”
