Midfielder netted in the 54th minute to earn a point

Antoni Sarcevic’s back post header was enough to earn a point for the Cod Army against Nigel Clough’s Blades at Highbury this afternoon.

The midfielder rose highest at the back post to loop his effort over the United keeper for his first ever League One goal.

Town fell behind in the first period but showed character in abundance to get themselves back into the game after the break, and could on another day have taken all three points.

He said: “I was very pleased to get my first league goal of the season and very happy with the performance of the lads.

“I’m more than happy to get that first goal and I want to just kick on now.

“We were comfortable during the game and I didn’t think they were putting any sort of real pressure on us, and in the second half we completely outplayed them.

“I’m loving things at the minute and am happy to be playing well and helping the team.

“With the team and the lads we’ve got, we can definitely push on and get something at Coventry now next week.”
