Manager's thoughts after Scunthorpe win

Graham Alexander was once again delighted to see his Fleetwood Town side pick up their second away win in the space of three days at Scunthorpe’s Glanford Park on Tuesday night.

Jamie Proctor bagged his third goal for the Club in the second half to set the ball rolling, before Gareth Evans doubled his side’s advantage ten minutes from time with a well taken header.

The result means that the Cod Army maintain their 100% winning start to the new League One campaign.

Speaking after the victory, Alexander said: “I’m really pleased. I thought the players were fantastic today. We knew Scunthorpe would be hurting after Saturday’s result, but we gave them a right good game tonight.”

“They had to give a response after Saturday’s defeat and I think they did that. We had to defend and work hard, and at this level there isn’t a game where you don’t have to work hard, but I think every single player who wore a Fleetwood top did that.”

“For the first goal, it was a great cross from Bally on the right and Proc was in the right place to score at the back post. The second came from a lovely Schumacher ball and it was a fantastic header from Gareth.”

“The lads are confident in their teammates when they look around the changing room and it’s a great feeling to have as a player. We have to work hard day in, day out to keep that mentality going now.”

“We’re only three games into what will be a long season, but the early signs are certainly good at the moment and we have to make sure we improve on that.”
