Manager ahead of Bristol City showdown
Back in August 2007 Steve Cotterill signed Graham Alexander from Preston North End on a two year deal for neighbours Burnley, but on Saturday Fleetwood Town boss Alexander will be trying to snatch three points off his former manager."I know a couple of people there at Bristol City, like Wade Elliot who I played with for a good few years and Steve Cotterill who signed me for Burnley." Alexander told the Club website.
Top of the table Bristol City travel to Highbury looking to add another three points after their 3-0 midweek win away at Port Vale. "We do not pay attention to the other teams position in the league, when we talk about the opposition, we talk about what their weaknesses are and how we can beat them.
"When we got promoted the first thing you do is look forward to next year, you always look forward to the big fixtures and we knew that Bristol City was going to be a big game because of their status and the size of the club."
Bristol City are yet to lose a game in League One, they have six wins and two draws after eight games and are also four points clear of second place Peterborough United. Alexander has also been full of praise for Cod Army fans especially during the game against Barnsley.
He continued: "We are in for a tough game and we have to make sure that they are in for a tough game as well.
"We are looking forward to it, the atmosphere against Barnsley was great. The supporters showed their appreciation again of the team and their efforts, like they did at Crawley.
"We want to repay their faith and loyalty that they have shown and we can only do that by winning games.
"We haven't got the points that our overall play has deserved.
"The lads are doing a lot of things right and you can see that in our general play.
"There are a lot of positives and there are also a lot of good things that are happening at the moment, but the biggest thing in football is winning and to win games you have to score goals and that is what we have to do to improve.
"It is down to us to take the opportunities that we are creating, we have to take all the other good stuff that we are doing like the defensive side of it and how hard we are to play against, soon as we add goals to that we will be getting the points that we deserve."
