Head coach reacts after 1-0 win at Banks's Stadium

Uwe Rosler says he is ‘delighted’ that his side were able to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Bolton Wanderers with a 1-0 win at Walsall on Tuesday night.

Cian Bolger’s first half header from Cameron Brannagan’s corner was enough for all three points as Town stayed second in Sky Bet League One.

The Cod Army head coach was also keen to praise Bolger’s impact in both areas of the pitch in his post-match press conference.

“The big man [Cian Bolger] was outstanding in both boxes,” said Rosler.

“We played really well first half and should’ve been more than 1-0 up at half time. We hit the bar, we had one cleared off the line.

“They didn’t have one shot on target and we had still good chances on the counter attack.

“To come through the game against Walsall where people might be unsure how we responded is a delight for me and the whole club.

“It was brave going to a Walsall team who are winning six home games on the trot and really knocking on the door of the playoffs. That was impressive.”

Rosler was forced to make changes to the side which faced Bolton at Highbury last Saturday, with Devante Cole and Ashley Eastham among those missing out.

“We had another two players on our injured list but the players who came in and normally start did a tremendous job,” said Rosler.

“Bobby Grant played as a centre forward and was very effective. Ash Hunter started and has not started for a while but came through 90 minutes in good fashion. Godswill did really well.

“He’s played really well with the development squad and I always say the way you play, the way you train you can always put a case forward to start in the first team and he’s been doing that.

“It’s the same with Cameron [Brannagan] who’s came in, he was also very good and helped us give a very strong team performance.

“I thought the good performances tonight came in two different phases, first half more playing and the second half more ruthless, very professional and got us over the line.”
