Head coach speaks to the media after Scunthorpe win

Uwe Rosler has praised his side after they surpassed the club’s record points tally in Sky Bet League One.

Fleetwood’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United on Saturday saw Town reach 64 points in the league, a record which was set in the 2014/15 season.

Devante Cole and Bobby Grant scored to send the Cod Army second, as well as making it 18 games unbeaten in the league.

“That’s already something to be proud of,” said Rosler.

“We have reached our next target which was 63 points – the best points target this club has ever had. Whatever happens now it is the best season this club has ever had.

"I said to the players today that there are two more months to go and they will require a lot of sacrifices, but they could change your life.

“There was no way I could have imagined this when I walked in here just before the season started. Nobody could.

“I will sit and talk with the players [about our next target], we will do this next week as there is no midweek game. The next target will be ambitious and achievable for us.”

Rosler was also keen to praise his side after the win over their league rivals, especially with many injuries to first team players.

“Kyle Dempsey wasn’t supposed to start, but he battled on. Amari’i [Bell] is injured, so Joe Maguire started.

“We have a few injuries with [Nathan] Pond and Jimmy Ryan so how the group and the squad adjusted to that situation against a top, top team is fantastic.

“We stood firm and were resilient. It’s a fantastic win for us over a strong Scunthorpe side.”
