Head coach reacts after Gills triumph

Uwe Rosler has commended his side’s ‘amazing effort’ as they came back from 2-1 down to beat Gillingham on Saturday.

An injury time strike from Kyle Demspey along with second half goals from Ashley Hunter and David Ball sealed a stunning comeback.

Rosler reserved praise for his sides fighting effort when speaking to the press in his post-match press conference.

“They [Gillingham] didn’t make it easy for us today, but the team fights brilliantly in every game,” said Rosler.

“They punished us from a set piece, and we should have marked better. We know that.

“The shackles came off in the second half, and our substitutions worked in our favour.

“We’re doing what we have to do and we’ll go in on Monday as usual and hopefully take our good momentum into Sunday’s game. We have an extra day so that is good for us.”

Despite this afternoon’s win, Rosler insists that the job is done yet ahead of next Sunday’s final game of the season against Port Vale.

“We can’t get carried away and we have to sit down and think about where we go with the club, because what we have achieved so far is unthinkable.”

“Everyone is surprised at how far we’ve come and that’s the beauty of my job. The most exciting thing is seeing players buy into my philosophies.

“No matter what, it’s all about momentum.”
