Head coach looks ahead to second leg playoff tie

Head coach Uwe Rosler says his side will attack in a ‘controlled manner’ in Sunday’s Sky Bet League One playoff second leg with Bradford City.

Rosler’s side trail 1-0 from Thursday’s first leg, and know they must score at least once at Highbury to have any chance to progress to the final at Wembley.

“The emphasis is more on us,” said Rosler.

“We are now chasing the result, but we don’t need to chase the result in the first minute. It is important we play the game as a normal league game – obviously at some point we need to score to win the tie and go to Wembley.

“It is important that we attack in a controlled manner, to make sure we get the result that we want.

“I think we will attack them from the beginning, because that’s the way we are, but it will be in a controlled manner.

“They have something to lose, they have something to hold on to, and we have something to gain. That’s a good starting point for us.”

Rosler reserved credit for Stuart McCall’s side after their performance in the first leg at Valley Parade.

“We expected the game exactly like it went. I gave Bradford City credit with the way they started the game.

“Watching the game back, the tempo, the throw-ins, the supporters, the corners all led into people thinking they should have been up by more.

“The attempts they had didn’t bother us too much – apart from the mistake by Bobby Grant and the shot of the post.

“We would have liked to attack more and keep the ball better but it was a great learning curve. In the second half I thought we stabilised ourselves but unfortualty didn’t do our jobs on the corner.

“Overall, I thought Bradford were the better team but not by a big margin. There wasn’t much in the tie.”
