Midfielder looking forward to upcoming fixtures after Holland trip

Bobby Grant has relished the opportunity to play a full pre-season for Fleetwood Town this year.

The forward has travelled in and out of the country with the Cod Army during their pre-season tour of Holland.

Grant missed part of pre-season during the summer he signed for Town and revealed he has enjoyed the experience this time around.

"This season, I’ve had a full pre-season and I feel really, really strong, I feel great," said Grant.

"When I first came here I didn’t really have a pre-season so it took me a while to get going.

"Hopefully, I can finish where I left off last season."

Grant is looking forward to the fixture against Southport on Tuesday night and thinks it will give the side the motivation to carry on towards the start of the season.

"I think it’s good to play them because you have to be up for it," he said.

“They want to beat Fleetwood because they are Non-League, they want to turn us over.

“It’s like when we played Liverpool and when we played AZ Alkmaar, we wanted to beat them because they are two leagues above us.”

And the forward has warned his teammates to not underestimate Southport despite their Non-League status.

“We won’t be going to Southport and be taking them lightly because if we do that, we might get turned over,” he said.

“I know it’s a friendly but you need to get the winning mentality into your team as quickly as possible.

“We wouldn’t be going there to play a pre-season friendly, we would be going there to put in a good performance, get our fitness levels up and get a good result."
