Striker speaks to media ahead of Cobblers match

David Ball has hailed his side’s ‘strong mentality’ ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture with Northampton Town (3pm k/o).

Ball has played a crucial role in Fleetwood going 16 matches unbeaten, as well as climbing to fourth in the league and just two points off the automatic promotion spots.

Town’s leading goal scorer has heaped praise on head coach Uwe Rosler since his arrival in August – with his first game the reverse fixture against Saturday’s opponents.

“It’s been many months since the first game and the manager has put a stamp on the team which is credit to both him and his staff,” said Ball, who has bagged 11 goals this season.

“A lot of things have changed since the reserve fixture and we are a lot more prepared for all situations now and it’s really great.

“This run is massive for the team and us as players will probably go on one of these runs maybe once or twice in our career.

“We’ve all relished it this year by winning games and getting ourselves where we are in the league.

“I think it mainly comes down to the mentality and the standard of the team and the competition for places has increased everyone’s focus.”

Ball was quick to also praise the more within the Fleetwood dressing room, citing the difference between last season and this.

“There is still six or seven players from that group last year who obviously know that the club’s position last year wasn’t right.

“The lads are just relishing that run and we are looking forward to the next game, which is Northampton on Saturday.

“We’re enjoying playing with each other and that helps us in the long run and we certainly believe that we can keep it going.”
