New ticketing initiative

Fleetwood Town chairman Andy Pilley has called on the people of the town to get behind their team ahead of what could be a hugely exciting end to the season.

As well as currently occupying the League One play-off places, the Cod Army are on the verge of reaching the Fourth Round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

And to encourage people from the Fylde Coast to get behind the team, Pilley is offering heavily cut-price entry and away travel between now and the end of the season, as a thank you for support so far.

“The backing of the town and all of the Fylde Coast is huge to us,” explained the Chairman who has guided the club to six promotions since taking over 13 years ago.

“These are exciting times for Fleetwood Town at present, we have a hugely entertaining team, an excellent manager and are sitting pretty in the table.

“And I want to make coming to Highbury as affordable as possible for fans, as well as hoping to encourage large numbers to travel to support us away from home.

“So my message is to get behind your club!”

The club will be distributing ticket vouchers to businesses in Fleetwood this week, which the holder can pay just £15 in exchange for an adult and junior ticket to a coming game.

Pilley has also pledged extend last weekend’s offer of half-price away travel for the rest of the season.

He added: “We realise how expensive following football can be for families, so we want to make it as affordable as possible.

“Our ticket prices are already some of the cheapest in football, but now we are going the extra mile to allow people to be part of the action at Highbury Stadium.

“On Saturday we offered half-price away travel with a huge response, the numbers making the long trip to Bristol City were excellent.

“So that’s something I’m now continuing for the rest of the season.”

The Cod Army face Bristol Rovers at Highbury this weekend in league action before welcoming Championship side Bristol City the following Tuesday in the FA Cup replay, with Premier League opposition awaiting the winner - either Sunderland or Burnley. Tickets for both games are now on sale.
