Midfielder reacts after penning contract extension
Bobby Grant has hailed the ‘fantastic dressing room’ at Fleetwood Town after signing a two-year contract extension.
The 26 year-old has penned a contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2019 after starring in Uwe Rosler’s side this season.
“I’m very happy to be part of what we are creating here.
“I spoke to the manager recently and to Gretar on Monday and I’ve been speaking to the chairman. For me it got sorted in the last couple of days and hopefully we managed to get everything sorted.
“The dressing room this year has been fantastic. The lads we’ve brought in and the lads who were still here – we have a close dressing room and you can probably see that on the pitch.”
Grant – who has spent most of his career predominantly playing as a forward or an attacking midfielder, has taken up a more central role in the Cod Army midfield under Rosler.
“I said as long as I’m on the pitch, I don’t mind where I play.
“For me playing in midfield and playing as many games as I have with the quality that we’ve got, makes me delighted.
“I’ve played most of the games and I’ve really enjoyed the style he wants us to play.
“I’ve really enjoyed coming to work. When you’re playing week in, week out as a footballer you can’t ask for anymore and that’s down to the manager given me a chance. I feel as though I’ve performed well enough to be in the team.
“As a club, we’re moving forward and fingers crossed we can achieve something as a team.
The former Blackpool man was quick to heap praise on Chairman Andy Pilley after securing his future with the club.
“He actually tried to sign me a couple of times before I actually came to Fleetwood!
“He’s a fantastic chairman who has rewarded me for what I’ve done for him and with what he’s done for the club speaks for itself.
“I think for me to sign a contract is shows that I’m willing to commit myself to Fleetwood and it gives other people rewards as well.
“It’s about security. Fleetwood is a place where I’m happy, and I think when you’re playing football you have to be happy.
