Defender looks ahead to Gills clash

Amari’i Bell believes that Fleetwood Town’s ‘mentality and togetherness’ will shine through in the last two fixtures of the Sky Bet League One season.

Town travel to Gillingham on Saturday afternoon, having already secured a playoff position after Monday’s vital 1-0 win over Millwall at Highbury.

Bell – who made his 100th Cod Army appearance on Monday – says his side are focusing only on themselves.

“We are focusing on us doing our job and not worrying about other teams,” said Bell, in his pre-match press conference at Poolfoot Farm.

“The mentality and overall togetherness of the team will hopefully see us through and over the line.

“We have been strong all season and me, nor the rest of the team can see any reason why we can’t finish the season in a positive way.

“The team’s mentality has been amazing all season and we will need that in the last two games.”

Bell also reserved praise for head coach Uwe Rosler, and the work he has done throughout the season.

“The gaffer has been outstanding with all the lads,” added Bell.

“All of us have improved under his management and he helps us all both on and off the pitch.

“He’s a great man to work with and he has helped us all season and we are repaying him by playing well.”

The 22 year-old has also insisted that his team will remain focused during the run-in, with Bell relishing the challenges that will come with the final two fixtures.

“We aren’t taking any notice of the teams around us.

“Like we have said we will take it one game at a time and that has proved to be a good mentality to have all season.

“These situations don’t come around very often in a career so we will take it with both hands and not let go.”
