Goalkeeper extends stay with club after impressive season
Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Alex Cairns has signed a contract extension with the club.
Cairns – who joined the club last summer – has penned an extension on his current deal, ensuring he stays with the Cod Army until the summer of 2021 after impressing in goal for Town this season.
The 24 year-old made his league debut at Chesterfield in November, and hasn’t looked back since, keeping a remarkable 18 clean sheets in all competitions.
The former Leeds United stopper had only made one senior appearance before this season, but a string of impressive displays – most notable against Millwall on Easter Monday – has helped propel Town into third in Sky Bet League One.
