Two Wrens Ladies teams were in action over the weekend, with the Development Squad coming out 5-4 winners at home to Blackburn Eagles at Fishers Field.

On Sunday 21 April, the ladies welcomed Blackburn Eagles to Fishers Field in a league game, with the development squad looking to secure three vital points at this stage of the season.

The game unfolded and it was a great contest from the first whistle, with key battles all over the pitch from both teams.

It was great end to end play, which allowed the goal fest to begin. With both teams causing problems for each other throughout, Fleetwood created some great opportunities in the final third, and find themselves in fine shooting form, finding the back of the net several times.

There were some costly mistakes from Fleetwood, which allowed the visitors to find the back of the net a couple of times. The Wrens didn't let the goals affect them, and they came back firing to walk away the winners in a 5-4 resuly, ensuring they kept all the points on the Fylde Coast.

The coaching staff wanted to make a special mention to Siobhan Fryer - who played well throughout the game, created several of the goals for her teammates. The player of the match was Cloe Warbrick.

The Resevres welcomed Workington Red Ladies to Brews park, and the game began with Fleetwood struggling to get any control in the match.

Workington worked hard in the early exchanges to get a foot-hold in the match, but it's fair to say there was some fantastic football played across the pitch, with both teams putting bodies on the line to keep the scoreline goalless.

The deadlock was broken through two costly mistakes from the Cod Army, giving the visitors a two-goal lead heading into the interval.

As the second half unfolded, Fleetwood continued the push for a goal back, and they did have a ridiculous amount of possession throughout, with numerous chances created, but just struggling to convert in front of goal!

It was a game in which the ladies were dominant and on top throughout, however the 2 costly goals in the first half would be the only goals of the game.

A tough one to take as Fleetwood were the better side and controlled the game, but just one of those days, overall a good performance. The player of the match was Charmaine Cardwell.
