County honours for club youth
18 November, 2009
Three Fleetwood Town youth players earned county honours after appearing in the FA County Youth Cup last weekend for Lancashire FA.
Adam Sumner (pic), Joe Camozzi and Jordan Holmes were all selected for the Association's Under 18 Representative team who saw off Manchester FA in Saturday's FA County Youth Cup Second Round.
The victory secured a trip to Middlesex FA in the competitions third round and the tie will be played on 20th December with a quarter final place the prize. The final will be played at Wembley Stadium.
Sumner played for 90 minutes at left back, whilst Camozzi appeared for the last 38 minutes. Holmes was an unused substitute.
Meanwhile, Sumner is through to the last of three selection trials for a place with the England Colleges side. Together with 32 players from across the country he will be attending Lilleshall for two days at the end of November and has a real prospect of being selected in the final 18-man squad.
Fleetwood Town under 18 assistant manager Mark Bowley said “We are delighted to have three of our players representing Lancashire FA. It is indeed an honour to play for your county and I know these three lads have worked extremely hard to gain a place in the squad. “
Commenting on Sumner’s success Mark said “Adam is a terrific prospect. He is now a regular in the reserve team here at Fleetwood and this again is a big step up for him. To represent your country at any level is a fantastic achievement and we should be extremely proud of one of our own. Once again it illustrates the excellent young talent we are nurturing at Fleetwood Town.”
