Lancit Haulage Lancashire League

1st October 2007
Goal: FTFC – Kyle Webster

This was Fleetwood’s fourth game in ten days and it showed. The pace and drive that was so evident in the previous three games was understandably missing in what was a very poor game. Fleetwood deserved their win but they made hard work of it against a very average side. Five changes were made to Friday’s team and Town started quite well on a very big pitch. Jack Davidson was brought in for his first start of the season and he, along with Kyle Webster, were the pick of the players.

It was Webster who scored the only goal of the game after 20 minutes. Christian Dust’s throw found Chris Watkinson. He in turn played a sublime ball to the unmarked Webster who tore at the heart of the Salford defence and from 25 yards out he unleashed an unstoppable shot beyond the home keeper. It was the highlight of an often dull game. Mike Hale in the town goal had little to do but his steadying influence was key as Salford made some late efforts on his goal.

The win takes Town to the top of the table but they will have to wait another ten days before they play again - which is just as well because they picked up two or three injuries over the period
